Meet Kathryn Zahorak, a brilliant Los Angeles actress and creative challenging the way we connect through storytelling. Hear her perspective on life, mindful living, and personal style.
Where do you find inspiration?
My inspiration comes from many sources, often, when I’m home. I fall in love with places, through architecture and natural beauty. I stumble upon musing in old movies, and iconics of past decades. I romanticize my surroundings often and love living in Los Angeles.
What interests are a large part of your identity?
Writing has been my greatest escape throughout my life. During the pandemic, I wrote my first TV pilot script.
Where can we find you on the weekend?
Walking my dog around Silver Lake with my fiance and drinking a black iced americano.
How do you slow down after a long day?
I love going out for a special date night with fresh pasta and red wine or going to one of my favorite restaurants in LA followed by a movie at home.
What slow moments do you savor the most?
When I am with loved ones, away from my phone, and away from the pressure to ‘hustle’. I especially love seeing my parents in the San Francisco Bay Area. It is much slower in Northern California.
What moments bring you the most joy?
Traveling. I miss it so much. I had a trip planned to Italy in April of 2020, which obviously, was canceled. Once it is safe, I would love to go back there. I crave that feeling you get at the airport, right before your flight on the way to your next adventure.
What does mindful living look like to you?
Being kind - not only with others but to myself and the environment.
What steps do you take to show up authentically?
Cultivating my priorities and core beliefs. Therapy. Remembering I have only one life to live, so might as well live it to the fullest.
Do you have any rituals to keep your mind clear?
Journaling. Anytime I am anxious, I put some music on and write whatever is going on in my head. I highly recommend it.
What does consuming thoughtfully mean to you?
Consuming thoughtfully starts with defining your personal style. When you make a purchase, be attentive of it. That way, it’s not driven by the need to be on-trend BUT your own point of view on fashion. I love supporting smaller designers, and shopping vintage.
How did you learn to dress for yourself?
Around 25, I grew tired of chasing trends. I found decades and style icons I connected to most and looked for ways to build my closet out with classic pieces.
What are you wearing when you feel the most like yourself?
Mini skirts. Levis. Knee-High boots. Oversized men’s button-downs.
What do you love about the ZX style you chose, and how has it filled gaps in your wardrobe?
A colorful sandal is a staple in my wardrobe during the summer. Hot days in LA call for a strappy sandal. I love the versatility of this pair. They also give me total ‘Carrie Bradshaw’ vibes in the best way.
