The Summer Issue
S22 COLLECTION GUIDE
BUENOS AIRES, ARGENTINA
Just in time for warmer weather, The Summer Issue has arrived. The S22 Collection is inspired by “Forrobodo,” a Portuguese word meaning great party, commotion, and limitless fun. The summer collection is full of color, shape, and surprises.
A medley of references across mediums, the collection draws inspiration from music, culture, and art for an electrifying combination that we can only describe as “mood-enhancement dressing.” Long-awaited, we are beginning to reunite with a life filled with energy, movement, and, best of all, celebration. Now it’s time to dress for the occasion.
This season is emotionally charged, from the silhouettes to the colorways, taking a nod from Brazilian music to the party culture captured by 90s photographers Mari Stockler and Thomas Hoepker. While at the same time, the collection channels the fluidity and bold colors found in the art of Argentine painter Alejandra Seeber and Brazilian artist Leda Catunda.
Lastly, this season was heavily influenced by the musical film Nha Fala. In the film, after leaving West Africa to study in Paris, a young woman learns how to find love and happiness without sacrificing her own identity.
This season’s color story responds to craving colors that dial-up outfits and evoke an emotional response rather than a rational one. The result is a vibrant Y2K-inspired palette that evokes the tropics.
The palette started with Peony and Algae Green. This bright saturated pink dominated our design mood board. It can be seen worn by the protagonist Nha Fala and seen throughout Mari Stockler’s images of Brazilian girls dancing in nightclubs.
In contrast, Algae green stood out in Leda Catunda’s painted collages, harnessing the feeling of exotic, tropical greenery.
Alejandra Seeber’s abstract paintings brought this season’s muted, airy neutrals, Seafoam and Marfil, into the mix to temper the unmistaken vibrance of the Peony and Algae.
To capture the sensual and festive mood of the collection, Black Mesh references clothing worn by girls in photos of Brazilian nightlife.
PS 22’s Caramel Patent is revitalized to evoke imagery of bronzed, glistening bodies wearing bright, summery clothing.
Themes of movement, rhythm, sensuality, and revelry manifested in this season’s collection through upper patterns that intertwine and dance across the foot. These themes are apparent from the toes to the ankles and through sheer textures and cutouts that reveal skin.
The newest heeled silhouettes dial-up looks for summer social events, while the flat sandals offer a modern touch to foundational summer pieces and provide versatile styling options for work and off-duty looks.
Customer favorites are reinvigorated and reimagined in this season’s color story. They are ideal for the woman looking for an easy shape to style in an exciting new way with her summer wardrobe.
The Anto sandal is nonbasic and will function as a critical piece in composing your summer looks. Mannish but somehow still elegant & sleek, the style features a toe ring construction and faux tortoise buckle closure set on a low stacked leather heel.
The Una sandal is a slip-on thong style crafted from a single piece of leather and set on a comfortable block heel. Thanks to its clean and minimal detailing, Una adapts effortlessly to work, dinner, or off-duty wear.
The Vita sandal is a sensually strappy summer sandal. The Vita’s block heel is perfect for a night out, while its thong construction and tie-up laces will effortlessly hold your foot in complete comfort.
The Franca flat is ideal as a foundational late-spring, summer & early fall shoe for its ability to transition well from office to off-duty. The Franca is a sleek and feminine take on the fisherman sandal crafted from interlocking leather pieces and set on a stacked leather heel.
The Pileta slide is a streamlined version of the Pileta Sport Slide, featuring a sleek leather sole. The absence of details creates the perfect canvas for the color to take center stage with this style.
This season, sandal and heel lovers will immediately have their eyes set on the Vita sandal. The epitome of a sensual summer sandal, the Vita was made for a night on the dancefloor thanks to its comfortable block heel, thong construction, and leather tie-up laces.
The definition of functional, the Vita can be worn in countless ways; tie the laces up the leg, down around the ankle, or invent your own way.
As always, each ZX collection aims to expand the creative styling potential of a curated wardrobe with the addition of an impactful yet versatile shoe. This season follows suit with a vibrant edge.
Inspired by nightlife, dancing, and personality, the summer collection was honed-in with more simple and approachable style references to keep the new silhouettes and colorways grounded in functionality.
One can imagine the many possibilities of any shoe in the collection, from a night out in a mini two-piece set to running errands by morning with loose jeans and a classic top.
Core pieces for street-style-esque wear include voluminous oversized dresses, silk midi skirts, straight-leg denim/trousers, bandeau crop tops, and oversized summer suiting. But, of course, the styling potential is up to the individual wearer as soon as night falls.
Pair the Vita sandal with leg-bearing dresses and shorts, or let them peek out of slit trousers or skirts.
Wear the Una sandal with everything from vintage denim and summer suiting to slinky slip dresses and flowy trousers.
Style the Franca flat with a smart button-down and trousers for the office, then switch it up with shorts for casual weekend drinks when the temperature cools (or when it’s been a while since your last pedicure); the Franca also pairs well with socks.
Pair the Anto sandal with everything from denim and tailored trousers to ultra-feminine dresses.
Wear the Pileta slide to elevate joggers and a button-down for a chic daytime look or to chill out a skin-baring slip dress for a night out. Explore slipping into a bold color to style-up casual pieces or style-down more provocative ones.
Add dimension to a night-out look by styling the Eugenia flat in Mesh with silk, satin, or leather pieces for an elevated yet chill vibe.
Style the Glove flat in Mesh with classic pieces like trouser shorts with a white button-down or a tuxedo blazer for unexpected sex appeal.
